A swim spa is the ultimate exercise tool – or so we believe, anyway. A pump provides a constant current for you to swim against, so there’s no need to stop because you’ve hit the end of the length, or because you’ve reached the shallow end and can’t do productive front-crawl anymore. It’s like a water treadmill – you can keep on going until you want to stop.
Here are four reasons why you should install a swim spa (also called a hydropool) in your home.
Hydrotherapy
A swimming spa is the perfect place to carry out hydrotherapy and other pool exercises.
Hydrotherapy can be recommended to you by a physiotherapist (for sports training or to help with musculoskeletal problems) or enjoyed casually.
Participants can benefit from the gravity-defying effects of immersion as well as the exercise that they perform. These benefits include:
Improved cardiovascular fitness
With practise, improved swimming ability
Ability to move painful joints more easily
Reduced swelling.
Resistance training
Many swim spas come with optional equipment for resistance and/or cardiovascular training, making them multipurpose exercise tools! For example, our LSS420 swim spa can include a rowing and resistance kit if you so wish.
Resistance training and rowing are a fantastic fitness combination, boosting both your strength and your cardiovascular performance. Working against the current adds an extra level of effort to your workout.
Relaxation
Many types of swim spas are dual purpose; made for exercise but with additional sections without the current for relaxation just like a hot tub.
If you read our post about Hot Tub health benefits last month, you will know that simply relaxing in one can reduce stress and encourage healing blood flow.
It also enables you to socialise with friends or family while exercising, which may encourage you to spend longer working out.
Perfect for the home
And last but not least, not just why you should use a swim spa, but why you should have one of your very own.
Firstly, if all you would like to do is swim, then the swim spa takes up very little space compared to a pool. For example, our LSS420 swim spa is only 4.2m long, which is long enough for easy swimming while fitting comfortably in most decent gardens. You can also take a swim spa with you if you move house and have it back up and working again in no time, unlike most garden swimming pools.
Secondly, having your very own swim spa enables you to choose the optional extras which fit with how you want to use it. Your perfect size. Your perfect colour. It’s all up to you.
At Aegean Spas, we offer several different types of swim spa, backed by our extensive 30 years of experience in the industry. Our LSS swim spa comes with built-in relaxation spaces. The Portcril swim spa range offers a wide variety of options, and if you still need to create something unique to you, please ask about our custom spa creation process.
